Weekends sans plans might be depressing to some, but as soon as I realise I’ve got a weekend to myself, I secretly grin with delight. There’s nothing better than a rainy autumn Saturday with no-one to please other than myself, leaving plenty of time to go and do all the things I’ve been meaning to do! Last weekend, I made the most of some me-time to explore Old Market, heading to brand new shop and bar, To The Moon.
I love when friends come to visit. You get to do all those things you mean to do, but never quite get round to, and to see your city through someone else’s eyes, making it fresh and new again. My bestie Ciara arrived on Friday night and we had a whale of the time, sitting chatting on the harbourside as night fell, exploring Gloucester Road on a Saturday morning and wandering around Blaise Castle on a hot but fun dog walk. And there was no better way to finish off the visit than with a trip to the newly-opened Turtle Bay, just next door on Cheltenham Road, to see what it had to offer. View Full Post
Everyone knows that Thursday night is the new Friday night, so it was no surprise that there was already a queue when we arrived at the launch party of the new Turtle Bay venue. Fitting perfectly into the hustle and bustle of Cheltenham Road, the Turtle Bay team have expanded their Bristol offering in the building that once was Plantation, keeping its Caribbean roots but putting their own spin on things.
