One of my favourite things about Bristol is that as much as you like to think you know the city, there is always something new to discover. I’d heard of The Square before, and I think even been to a work party in its Christmas Grotto one year, but I had no idea that it had its own restaurant with a pretty bangin’ menu. A couple of weeks ago, I went along with some blogging friends to try it for myself.
Sundays are my favourite night of the week. Sure, Fridays are also up there (first I do yin and then I do gin, the perfect combo!), but Sundays are for cooking up some good food, doing meal prep, blogging and relaxing so that I’m ready to slide into Monday. Just before bed I like to spend some time on my skin, giving it the TLC that I don’t always have time for mid-week. When an email plopped into my inbox asking if I’d like to go and see the redesign of the Mercure Bristol Grand Hotel and their brand new restaurant, Keepers, I was intrigued. I’d visited it previously a few years ago and had a perfectly pleasant evening there, but with the promise of Victorian architecture mixed with Bristol’s vibrant street-art scene and a relaxed restaurant vibe, I was looking forward to seeing how they’d given it a fresh new look. I think it was my second year of uni when I first discovered The Burger Joint. Their burgers were the best way to start the night and man, I still have dreams about their sweet potato fries!
