Beauty Review: ARK Pro Remove Pre Cleanse

Beauty Review: ARK Pro Remove Pre Cleanse

One of the things I was most excited to try out from the Bloggers Hangout LFW party was the ARK Pro Remove Pre Cleanse. It was lovely to meet the team at ARK on the day, hearing all about their ‘treat by age’ skincare (apparently I’m headed into a big hormone-fuelled skin change time as I get into my late twenties – eek!) and their salon background. They sent me home with their latest product; an innovative pre cleanser.

When I first heard of pre cleansing, I wasn’t entirely on board with the idea – I already cleanse, tone, rub in serum and moisturise so I was unsure that I needed and wanted to add another product into my regime – with the addition of my Magnitone facial brush, my quick nighttime bathroom trip has now turned into a bit of a session! But I’d heard great things about the Dermalogica version of a Pre Cleanser so I was willing to give one a go and see if it helped.

The product is really easy to use; simply pop a little onto your hands, rub together and then massage onto the face and neck. It comes out of the bottle as an oil, which might feel odd to some people who balk at the idea of putting oil onto their face, but I’ve used lots of different cleansing oils in the past so I’m totally on board with the idea. Once you’ve rubbed in a little bit, you add a dash of water to emulsify the solution, and then wash it off, ready to hit up your main cleanser.

My skin did feel lovely after this pre-cleanse, and more ready for my Magnitone – sometimes it feels as though I’m just moving around the day’s dirt with the brush, so it was nice to feel like I was getting underneath the top layer and really giving my skin a good ol’ clean. I’ve recently started wearing a heavier foundation, and I’d been finding that my hot cloth was coming away quite dirty, leaving me to wonder if I was really getting everything, so this pre cleanse certainly helped out. I don’t know if I would use it every day, as after all this cleansing, my skin did feel a little sensitive, but I think once every few days would be fine, or if I know I’ve had a particularly heavy day. My only bugbear with it really was that it says it is great for taking off waterproof mascara, yet it was a little harsh on my eyes –  I think I’ll stick to my micellar water for that in future!

Overall, I think the product does enough good work to justify the extra step in my routine, and I was super impressed with the quality of packaging, instructions and cleanser itself. I’m also keen to try out more of the ARK skincare range now – I’ll get on it and report back with reviews!
